Cooking is an ideal activity to introduce in schools as an extra curriculum as it lays down some very important foundations for future development and growth.
In our classes we foster both confidence and independence while reinforcing solid values. We feel passionately about teaching these invaluable skills as they are steady anchors in a world of constant change.
Tots n Pots is a fun-filled, hands-on cooking & baking workshop experience, dedicated to providing Moms, Dads and Grandparents some valuable time with their children (both boys & girls) as well as creating a platform to educate children as to healthy foods and eating habits. The workshops allow your child to be creative whilst having fun… and the best part… you can leave the mess to us!
During the workshops kiddies learn a whole variety of skills such as fine motor development, speech development, perceptual skills, bilateral integration and sequencing skills, through:
mixing, weighing, mashing, pouring and stirring.
We introduce fun and creative recipes each week in our workshops, some interesting facts about the food they are preparing and useful tips & fun recipes are available for Moms to take home with them!
Come have some fun in the kitchen with Tots n Pots!
The basics of cooking are put into action by preparing delicious seasonal recipes each week.
Fundamental life skills such as baking, kitchen utensil skills, meal preparation as well as seasonal activities compliment our exceptional program!
We have put together an agenda of tried and tested healthy recipes to encourage kiddies to get excited about nutritional food and the preparation process thus encouraging good eating habits.
Many educational skills are covered in the programme:
• Language skills: terminology, foods, equipment and following instructions
• Tactile: the sense of touch is a very important sense to develop for little ones
• Maths skills: measuring, weighing and counting
• Colours, shapes, textures and art
• Science: how the properties of food change
• Social skills: teamwork which encourages self-esteem
• Fine Motor Skills when cutting, mixing, mashing, separating, rolling and pouring
Boosting confidence:
Children become totally absorbed when cooking and it involves using all of the 5 senses. It gives them as sense of achievement and confidence, whist encouraging them to try out new things.
Learning to experiment:
Children find it very rewarding to serve up dishes that they have created themselves, thus cooking is a great way to motivate fussy eaters.
