Playdough (aka Play-doh) is easy to make at home, and fun for kids of all ages. Here's how to make your own non-toxic toy with custom colors and fragrances.

This is the classic method that involves a bit of cooking on the stovetop - I prefer it because cooked playdough has a better texture than uncooked varieties.

Large Playdough Recipe

* 1 Cup flour
* 1 Cup water
* 1/2 Cup salt
* 1 tablespoon oil
* 2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
* Food coloring as desired

Use non stick spray into a medium saucepan. Measure and blend dry ingredients well with a wooden spoon. Do the same with the liquids. Blend all into medium saucepan. Stir aggressively until the lumps break up. Cook over medium heat for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes while continually stirring with a wooden spoon. If the playdough is quite sticky, then you need to cook it longer.

WARNING: You will need to let your playdough cool before your child can play with it.
