1. Create an indoor obstacle course using furniture, blankets, couch cushions and anything else that you can get your hands on. Let the kids help design the course and once it’s done, time them to see who does it quickest.
2. Create an indoor tent or fort with chairs and a few sheets. Somehow playing with old toys in a new setting is just as fun as having new toys!
3. Get some music out get the kids dancing.
4. Encourage the children to put on a play for the adults. Children can spend hours coming up with a story and practicing. It’s a great way to encourage their imaginations!
5. Use some masking tape to tape a hopscotch grid on the lounge floor.
6. Blow up some balloons and play some indoor “hand tennis”.
7. Get the kids in the kitchen and let the bake cupcakes for an indoor picnic or tea party.
8. Get out the scissors, glue, old magazines, macaroni, paints and any other crafty materials and have a day of crafty fun.
9. Find an old tape recorder and a blank tape and let the kids make their own story tape, or broadcast their own radio station.
10. Help your kids sort out the toy cupboard. While this may sound like a chore at first, they will soon re-discover a whole lot of toys, puzzles and games that they have probably forgotten about. It’s like Christmas all over again!
