Roosevelt Extension Nursery School is registered with both the Departments of Health and Social Services. We have a team of dedicated, fully qualified pre-primary school teachers. At Roosevelt Extension Nursery School our focus is on small enough classes so that your child receives individual attention.
We aim to promote your child's social, emotional and intellectual development in a structured yet fun-filled way. Our daily program is also designed to improve and enhance your child's physical co-ordination.
The school caters for children from 2 to 6 years old. We run a playgroup for 2 year olds and we encourage all children to attend school 5 mornings a week from the term in which they turn three. Four groups, Blue, Yellow, Green and Red cater for the children of various ages.
Children are taken to places of interest during the year and we also have regular educational shows that visit the school during the year. Everyday children receive a nourishing mid-morning snack and juice.
In the course of the year a qualified audiometrist visits the school to check the children's hearing and eye screening tests are also arranged.
The school has its own library and children are allowed to take one book home each week.
Our grade R and perceptual training program prepares your child for Grade 1 and School Readiness testing is available.
We offer a playgroup in the mornings for 2 year olds and a Mother and Toddler group once a week on a Thursday afternoon.
When a child joins our school we encourage parents to stay with their child at the school for as long as their child may need it, making the transition to school a positive one.
The school believes that good communication with parents is vitally important. All parents are invited to attend the schools AGM.
We have a quarterly newsletter, which gives parent's information on events and other useful information.
Regular notices are dispatched through the post pocket system, keeping parents abreast of school events.
A written progress report is given for each child at the end of terms 1, 2 and 4. Interviews are done at the end of term 3.
Your child's progress can also always be discussed directly with the teacher after school.
We have a monthly calendar for your fridge, which highlights the events of the month.
We have informal 'get-togethers' and other social fundraising events.
