Founded in 1871 by Bishop Gray, the school moved premises in 1919 to the historic Nooitgedacht site on the edge of the city of Cape Town. Table Mountain provides the backdrop to beautiful buildings, fields and gardens, and the Atlantic Ocean can be seen through the fringes of the ancient oak trees that frame the campus boundaries.

Our school is a values-driven, family school with a strong sense of identity and an expanded community that includes supportive, engaged parents, links with the Anglican Church and a supportive and involved alumnae body. The historic Nooitgedacht campus houses three schools in one, with shared facilities that include the beautiful heritage chapel, the hall and specialist sports facilities. Thus our girls, aged from 3-18 years (Grade 000 to Matric), cross paths and interact on a daily basis.

A shared educational vision, devised to shape character, build knowledge, develop skills and prepare our students for the 21st century is what discriminates St Cyprian’s School from the norm. This vision is what informs the framework that supports both the pursuit of excellence as well as the exploration of possibility.

Educational Approach

St Cyprian’s School has been at the forefront of promoting a 21st Century approach to teaching and learning for a number of years. This is the result of the identification and intentional development of a 21st Century skill set to underpin and expand the delivery of a core curriculum.

The St Cyprian’s School 21st Century Skill Set encompasses the following five aspects:

Critical Thinking

The use of technology within a blended learning approach is a key focus, but equal emphasis is accorded the conscious development of thinking and learning skills as core competencies. Pedagogy drives our use of technology, and mindfulness and metacognition are the concepts that provide the platform for developing the requisite skills.

Our Vision, Mission and Core Values

‘We teach not for school but for life;
we train not for time but for eternity.’

St Cyprian’s School strives to instil the will in our students to become values-driven, life-long learners and leaders who will strive to make a difference to the world.

Core Values: RICA
* Respect
* Integrity
* Compassion
* Accountability
