Description

Parents and teachers work together at school and at home to instil core values, and the school offers a base of clear communication and support. The dedicated and passionate staff work together as a dynamic team; and on-going professional development is imperative in their endeavour to properly prepare learners to function independently in a twenty-first century world.

SCHOOL CURRICULUM:

DAYCARE FACILITY

The Bryandale Daycare Centre was established to provide a childcare facility and service for the children of teachers and staff at Bryandale Primary School and Bryandale Pre-Primary School. A maximum of ten children/babies of between 3 months and 3 years old are accommodated.

Children of staff members of Bryandale Primary School and Bryandale Pre-Primary School will be given preference. Thereafter, children of parents and then outsiders.

The Daycare hours are: 07h00 – 15h00

We have a few vacancies left for children, ages 4 months – 3 years in our Daycare Centre for 2016. Children are nurtured and cared for by an experienced teacher and her assistant. The daily programme includes brain gym activities and a variety of other age appropriate activities. The hours are from 07h00 to 15h00. Fees for 2016 are R2 550.00 per month. Please contact Angela Tyson on (011) 463 6820 or angela.tyson@bryandale for further information.

THE TRAVELLING BEAR

To encourage pre-reading and a love of reading, we have a “Travelling Bear”. Every child has a turn to take their special class travelling bear home for the weekend and with Mom and Dad they record what the travelling bear and child did together over the weekend. This is recorded in the “Traveling Bear” notebook. Both the bear and the book go home in a special backpack on a Friday. The “Travelling Bear” returns to school every Monday and the child, with the teacher’s assistance “read” to the class all they did over the weekend.

SHOP KEEPER

Shop Day takes place every Wednesday morning. Every child has a turn to be the shopkeeper and to bring cupcakes, biscuits or any treat to “sell” to the class.
Every child has a turn to be the shopkeeper on a Wednesday. We encourage parents to provide healthy alternatives to cupcakes, biscuits and sugary treats.

STAR OF THE WEEK

Every Wednesday every child has a turn to be the “star of the week”. The child brings a poster, which the child has made with the parents. The poster is all about the child and includes pictures of the child’s favourite things eg. Food, restaurant, activities etc and pictures of the family pets and anything else which is special to the child. The child is given the opportunity to show the children their poster and to discuss it. The child wears a star badge and the poster is displayed in the classroom for a week.

AFTERCARE

We offer the convenience of an aftercare which takes place at the Pre-Primary School for the Grade R’s and the Grade 1’s from the primary school. The aftercare runs from 13h30 and ends at 17h30. It is run privately by Clare Hulse, she can be contacted on 083 395 1859 for further information.
