The Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development (PsyCaD) at the University of Johannesburg offers a broad spectrum of psychological and educational services to the wider community.

Description

PsyCaD, based at the University of Johannesburg, is a centre of excellence for psychological and career services. Our mission is to provide our clients with developmental, preventative and curative services through psycho-social-cultural, academic, therapeutic and career development interventions. PsyCaD offers a broad spectrum of psychological, educational and career based services to the wider community. PsyCaDís services aim to enhance the psychological fitness of clients to manage personal life challenges, increase productivity and to optimise their performance. This includes dealing with trauma and stress.

* Counselling is offered to individuals of all ages, couples, families and groups.
* All contact with PsyCaD is highly professional and strictly confidential.
* PsyCaD is accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a site for training of Intern Psychologists and Intern Psychometrists.
* PsyCaDís professional staff are Counselling, Clinical and/or Educational Psychologists registered with the HPCSA.

ASSESSMENTS

Psychological assessment is a process of testing that uses a combination of techniques to help arrive at some hypotheses about a person and their behavior, personality and capabilities.

THERAPY

The aim of psychotherapy is to assist individuals, couples, families or groups with emotional difficulties and psychological distress in which clients and therapists work together to better understand the problems.
