Description

About us

In 2009 a group of 10 families living in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, gathered together to discuss the education and future of their Down Syndrome children. It was from these initial meetings that the Down's South Support Group (DSSG) emerged. This support group steadily grew as new parents with children with Down Syndrome got to hear about it and in August 2010 was renamed The Down Syndrome Inclusive Education Foundation (DSIE Foundation) to refect our vision and purpose of educating people with Down Syndrome within a mainstream environment.

Vision

Our Foundation strives to be at the forefront of developmental and educational support for children with Down Syndrome in the Western Cape. Our Foundation networks with both local and international special needs institutions and Down Syndrome associations. We aim is to offer a wide range of resources to assist both parents and professionals in promoting the development of people with Down Syndrome. The Foundations specifically emphasises early intervention in its educational support programme to parents and their children with Down Syndrome.

DSIEF is a registered Non-Profit Company (section 21 Company) which networks with local and international special needs institutions and Down Syndrome associations. We are working with associations in Germany, UK, Netherlands and using resources from Australia, Canada and Ireland.
