National Children’s Theatre is a Non-Profit Public Benefit, Section 18a Organisation, run by the National Children’s Theatre Trust and is situated in two heritage houses in Parktown, Johannesburg.
NCT presents Professional plays for children annually, child actors workshops for children in drama, mime, dance, singing - ages 6-17. Touring Productions, Life Skills Programmes, Holiday Acting Camps, Indigenous theatre, Story Telling classes, Shakespeare classes and school set works.
National Children’s Theatre is the foremost, busiest and most successful children's theatre in South-Africa. Offering professional shows, workshops, holiday camps, life-skills and educational outreach programs, NCT lives its motto of EMPOWERING CHILDREN THROUGH THEATRE.
The National Children´s Theatre was established in 1989 by Joyce Levinsohn which earned her a Lifetime Achievement Award.
We believe in building community partnerships, creating jobs for newly qualified actors and developing a new generation of theatre supporters through entertaining and engaging programs.
For the past 30 years NCT has produced outstanding theatre productions and educational programs which have won several national and international awards including 5 Naledi Awards, and an IPRA Golden World Award for Excellence in Public Relations in the Arts category.
